Back in Baltimore

Back to Baltimore to celebrate New Years. This is the second year in a row so I guess it is a tradition. We stayed off the streets and had a nice relatively quite New Years. No need to start 2012 in the Baltimore drunk tank.

Thai

Laura and I stopped in to Short Pump mall or town center or what ever it is called despite my better judgment and after walking around a bit stopped in Tara Thai for a bite to eat. At least I got a giod meal out of the trip.

Birds Eye View

This almost looks like a model of the city. A couple weeks ago I saw a tutorial on how to make a photo look like a model, I just got luck with this one, except all the dirt on the window that was not a lucky thing.

Should a sunset always be in color?

Usually it is easy to choose between color or black and white when it comes to a sun rise or a sun set picture. However this photo has me uncertain. The delicate clouds and silhouette of the trees make me think a black and white however I like the colors in the sky so as the photographer that captured them I want to show them.

Opposites Attract

It's 40 degrees out and he has on flip-flops and her feet are wrapped up like she going to race in the Iditarod.
I know all too much about this, my wife would need a snuggy on the surface of the sun.

The Illumination

Laura and I went downtown for the Grand Illumination. After all the lights where all let and we had enough of the crowds we wondered off to explore the night.
We ended up at the governors mansion. As we walked up we noticed the brick sidewalks were covered in dirt. Then we noticed the lawn was covered in tents and prop trees. We had walked on to a set for Lincoln.

No Bad Seat

Laura took me to this local sports complex just before the sun went down. Our timing was great because a few minutes after this shot the sun fell too far behind the horizon and the beautiful color in the sky went away.

Abandoned

Another nice day another bike ride. Laura and I had seen this old chimney the last time we rode by here and decided to stop by and see what it was used for. And the answer was nothing. At least it isn't use for anything anymore. It isn't attached to anything and is just standing there waiting to fall.

Night Sky

We have had some beautiful weather lately. Laura and I took advantage
of it this evening and took walk around our neighborhood.

Dante

Laura and I came across this square in Verona on our trip to Italy. I liked the composition with the three statues and all the lines, vertical and horizontal.
I try to look back through old photos and find things in them I didn't see before.

Derelict

As I took this picture a man walked up behind me and said "I'm just a homeless man trying to get by." Times are tight and you can see it on the street.
The restaurant in this photo is Paul's in Phobeous. It has been closed down for a couple months now. It was a staple in Phebous for years and now it is fading away.

SUI!

Sansui that is. I got my record player and old stereo equipment I got from my parents out and set up. I have to say Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska is one of my favorite to listen to on vinyl. I had the CD first but went out and bought the album just so I could listen to it with all the cracks and pop that gives vinyl so much character.

Overgrown

This is one of the photos that when you take it you are very excited about it but when you start to proces it you can't find the picture. So I left it a lone for a couple months and now I have revisited and think i got a decent image out of it.

Reaching for the sky

I saw this tower outside of the vet today and it got my attention for some reason. I think it reminds me of an album cover but I can't remember which one.

Textures in Life

I have been looking at old photos lately. This is from my Honeymoon in Italy. When I took this shot I wanted to get the composition of the diagonal lines but I was not able to get it to turn out like I had hoped. I think I might of or it has been long enough since I took the photo I forgot.

Old Bones

Old buildings can have so much character. Sometimes I miss working in the construction industry. I miss taking things apart and learning how they work. I miss walking away at the end of the day with a tangible thing standing where I worked instead of just pixels. The sweat that comes from hard work and putting my back into it. Then it snows or rains for a week and I'm glad I get to work indoors.

Rainy Fall Day

At least it rained over night, but it turned out to be a beautiful day.
