Captain Obvious

This was on my neighbours car... thought it was worthy of a photo of the day post.

What you looking at?

Ok I have been neglecting my "real" camera. But as Chase Jarvis says "the best camera is the one that's with you". However one of the things I wanted to get out of this blog was taking better photos so I need to use my camera.
Below is the Cans and Melons sculpture revisited with my Nikon...

A Little Coffee with that sugar?

As I sat down to download the sculpture I noticed my coffee cup had sugar dripping over the edge. Yes I am a slob.

Cans, melons...

My friend Betsy made this while she was attending VCU. I always like this piece and we have it hanging in the kitchen now. I see it all the time but never get tired of it.
Conveniently enough  I keep my phone right under it so it was easy to pick it up and take a picture, apparently it was not as easy to post it up to this blog. I have an app on my phone that will do a fake tilt-shift and I have been determined to figure out a shot to use the vertical option. So her it is.

Icy Texture

1/24/11

Took a little stroll out back to the lake in my neighborhood to get away from my desk for a minute. Their was a trickle over the spillway but I couldn't get a good angle on it. That is actally what I wanted to get a picture of but it wasn't to be. I got a couple of these shots inspired by Ansel Adam's more abstract close ups. Not that I have an ounce of Adam's vision or technical skill but I can still be inspired by him even if I don't come close to reaching him.

SLACKER
No photo for the 23rd with no good reason. Actually I should have been inspired. I went to see a Sally Mann exhibit at the VFMA. I think the problem was I was inspired to go into the dark room and create something. The problem is I don't have a dark room anymore. What I really want to do is get some orthofilm and put it in my old Polaroid Landcam and take some pinhole shots. This has been on my mind for a while now... one day I will have the room.
The Sally Mann show was excellent. It had a lit of her "death" photos and a doc about the process of making the photos for this show as well as others. If you have the chance to see it I highly recommend it.
Now what to take pictures of today?

Shadows

Old photo

I found while looking through some old pics. This was at a United for Justice march back in 07. I always thought her eyes were very interesting but I didn't like all the other elements in the photo. I cropped it down to 16:9 and made it black and white.... might help.

Bus 2

All of these photos a day pics have been taken with my phone, HTC Evo, so I am still trying to figure out all the settings.

Get on the bus...

This is my bosses "new" bus.

Hal is the one that inspired me or should I say dared me to try to post a pic a day.

Sitting on the porch having a drink and a smoke.

1/13/11

This is long over do. I have not posted anything here in a very long while. My friend Hal over at weaverwerx (see side bar for link) and I had discussed trying to post a pic or something a day. We were supposed to start on new years day, but that didn't happen.
As I am writing this I see he has posted some thing. Ha ha very funny Hal.
So here is my photo light pouring in my window. I will try to keep this up the rest of the year and maybe even make up for the 12 days I missed.
