Spent the day at Pocahontas State Park. We did a hike when we got there then canoed for an hour and then hit the water park and did one last hike. It was a great!

Macro

Got out side and was able to test out my new macro lens, for my phone. The lens needs a lot of light.

Evening at the VMFA

We met a friend at the VMFA who had nto seen the Kehinde Wiley exhibit yet. My son and I went to the Gordon Parks: Back to Fort Scott exhibit and explord the museum, which mostly consisted of going up and down the elevators and stairs.
We did get a short exhibition of pairs yoga while we sat and talked before heading home.
Both the Wiley and Parks exhibits are wonderful and I highly recommend both. The Wiley exhibit is ending soon.

Night Light

This is a beautiful building near my home. In the morning when I leave for work I see that basement doorway lit up and I always think it could be an interesting picture. I stopped one morning and tried to get a picture, but it didn't work out.
I got this one while jogging in the evening. I like it but I will probably revisit it again.

Dogwoods

This was my final assignment for my watercolor class. It was a freebie where we could paint what ever we wanted. I choose dogwoods because I have always liked them and it is the flower my wife and I used for our wedding.
I thoroughly enjoyed this class. Don't think I  am a natural painter but I did learn a few things and hope to be able to find the time to keep painting.

Mountainous Landscape

My painting class is coming to an end. This is the second to last assignment. For this one we had to copy a mast work. Unfortunately I have lost the site where I got the original image from so I can not remember who it was by.

Summer Day

It was a great day to visit Lewis Ginter and relax in the shade by the sandbox and splash pad.

Landscape

Image from Ansel Adams in Color book. I certainly do not do it justice. I thought it was hard to take a picture with clouds like Adams. It is even harder for me to paint them.

Still life with fruit

I started taking classes at the University of Richmond this summer. This term I am taking a watercolor class. This is my first water color since I was a small child scribing watercolor on a piece of paper.

Shamed into it

I have been neglecting my photo blog lately. I didn't feel too bad about it because I have been very busy with general life things and my friend Hal over at weaverwerx,  whom got me started doing the photo blog, hadn't been posting either. But now he has posted some new material and called me out. Let's see how long this lasts.
