New Photo App

I downloaded a new photo app for my phone, Pixlr Express. I found it on one of those best of the year lists that are so popular this time of year. It has a lot of features and I am looking forward to using it.

Rainy Christmas Eve

No snow for Christmas but I don't really expect it here in Richmond anyways. I am looking forward to spending the holidays with my family and friends. It is also my son's first Christmas so that is very exciting.

Road Race

Laura raced her first post baby 5K today and did great.

I snapped a coupe abstract shots of runners while I was trying to find her in the pack and the start... I never founder her. I had to wait until the end to see her crossing the finish line, very impressively I might add.

This was a Toys for Tots race and they got a lot of toys.

For the first two pictures I used a Photoshop technique I saw on Digital Photography School. The technique involves duplicating the image layer and then; desaturated it, inverting it, changing the blend mode to overlay, converting it to a smart object and finally applying a Gaussian blur to it and cranking it up to sharpen the image.

The answer isn't always 42

Met some new friends out for dinner at one of if not the best place for beer in Richmond.

 ... but sometimes it is.

An Eye Full 12/6

Devil's Backbone Kilt Flasher is a good scotch ale. The first scotch ale I remember drinking was Flying Dog's. I wasn't real impressed with it which  was very disappointing. It had a Ralph Steadman drawing of Hunter S. Thompson and a short description by Mr. Thompson himself . No matter how bad I wanted to like the beer it was bad. The disappointment with the Flying Dog Scotch Ale was about 11years ago (11 years is a long time so I admit my taste might have changed) and i hadn't really given that particular style of beer a second chance until I found  St. George's Scotch Ale... it is delicious. So when my wife came out of the store with Devil's Backbone's take on it I was excited to try it.  I really like there beers and had high hopes for these six beer, they didn't disappoint.

Waiting on toast

I really like these plates.  My wife drove all over town to get a full set. Even had some guy try to convince the sales girl to sell the ones she had on hold to him right in front of her.
The are very simple and clean and they don't get really slippery when you wash them.  I also really like toast and jam.
